Varicose veins appear to look like rope and are typically blue or red. They often occur deep under your skin and at times you will be unable to see them. People affected by varicose veins are pregnant women and those with occupations that require long periods of standing.
Varying in size, spider veins can appear as short and unconnected lines, or they may make patterns resembling a spider’s web or a burst. These veins may require spider vein treatments such as sclerotherapy. Spider veins are very small varicose veins. They may not cause discomfort.

Meet the Doctors
Travis Foster M.D.
Dr. Foster graduated from Texas A&M. He went on to complete his medical studies at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Following his surgical internship and residency at University of Alabama, he completed his Vascular Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Foster has practiced in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama.
Dr. Foster’s memberships include American Medical Association, Society for Vascular Technology, and International Society for Endovascular Surgery.
Joseph Guinn M.D.
Dr. Guinn was born in Galveston and graduated from Austin College. After his graduate studies in Neuroscience at Texas Christian University, he graduated Medical school at Medical College of Pennsylvania. Following his internship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, he completed his general surgery residency at St. Mary’s Hospital/Yale University combined surgical program and completed his chief residency at Western Reserve Care System. Dr. Guinn performed a peripheral vascular fellowship at Loma Linda University.
Dr. Guinn is a member of the American Medical Association and Student National Medical Association.
